Own A Home? Looking To Sell? Here's What You Need To Know

Oliebollen & Homeownership in Phoenix: What The Heck Are Oliebollen?! 🤔

If you’re like me, the start of a new year is like a crisp, blank canvas, offering the perfect opportunity for a fresh start and a clean slate. It’s a time when many of us reflect on the changes we want to make, set goals, and strike out on new journeys.

What Do Oliebollen and Spring cleaning have in common?

Both are New Year traditions! And what the heck are Oliebollen? Stay tuned…

Whether you are a homeowner or renter this is your chance to make resolutions that not only enhance your home but also contribute to your overall well-being. I’m sure I’m not the only one who is more creative when my living space is organized and beautiful.

Spring Cleaning in Phoenix Happens in January

Phoenix is special––of course, we are! January in the Valley of the Sun is when we tend to get the itch for spring cleaning. We aren’t waiting for snow to melt, and we want to clear our calendars for all the outdoor festivities coming in February when the weather is paradise. We can’t be bothered with cleaning carpets and scrubbing grills when it’s time for the Super Bowl, The Phoenix Open, Barrett Jackson, Desert Botanical Garden, Spring Training….I digress. Moderate January temperatures allow Phoenicians to throw open windows, let in the fresh air, and give our homes a thorough cleaning and organization. It’s a chance to declutter, reorganize, and create a living space that brings enjoyment throughout the year.

Maintaining Your Home, Bit by Bit

For homeowners, the key to a well-maintained home is taking small, consistent steps. Rather than feeling overwhelmed by the thought of major renovations or repairs, consider adopting a mindset of gradual improvement. Tackling tasks little by little not only makes them more manageable but also allows you to enjoy your home as it evolves. Whether it’s fixing a leaky faucet, updating decor, or addressing minor repairs, these incremental efforts contribute to a home that stands the test of time. Deferred maintenance can be costly when it suddenly requires immediate attention. As they say, an ounce of prevention…

New Year’s Traditions and Oliebollen Delights

On New Year’s Eve, my family, rooted in Dutch heritage, celebrates by preparing Oliebollen, or Dutch “oil balls.” It’s a delicious culinary tradition involving deep-fried dough, dusted with powdered sugar, creating a sweet and crispy treat––a close cousin of the donut hole but way more exotic! While I may not have Dutch blood, I gladly join in the tradition as an honorary Dutch girl, taking turns delivering and receiving Oliebollen with our Dutch neighbors. I love the time my family spends together hanging out in the kitchen while the actual Dutch people in my family prepare the goodies!
